San Luis Obispo caps ADUs at 850 sq ft for a studio or one-bedroom and 1,000 sq ft for two or more bedrooms. The city does not offer pre-approved ADU plans (San Luis Obispo County does, for unincorporated areas only), but it has scaled fees for ADUs and offered $5,000 rebates for all-electric units through 3CE. Hillside lots may need geotechnical work.
